Meet Eric.
SHOCardsLA is run by one person with a deep love for Shohei Ohtani, his story, and the hobby that's grown around him. Here's who's behind the curtain.
Father, doctor, collector — in that order.
I'm Eric Snyder. First and foremost, I'm a dad to two incredible kids, Owen and William. Everything else in my life — work, hobbies, businesses — exists to support and reflect the example I want to set for them.
By day, I'm a full-time emergency medicine physician. The ER teaches you to make decisions with incomplete information, to stay calm when things get loud, and to treat every person who walks through the door with the same respect. Those instincts shape how I run SHOCardsLA too.
By night and weekend, I'm a die-hard Ohtani collector and student of the hobby. I've followed Shohei since his NPB days, watched every milestone, and pulled or chased nearly every flagship rookie release. I started SHOCardsLA because I wanted the Ohtani-collecting experience I always wished existed: focused, honest, knowledgeable, and kind.
Meet Jake — our first sales associate.
Jake joined SHOCardsLA in the summer of 2026 as our very first sales associate — a 13-year-old catcher, shortstop, and die-hard Ohtani collector. He's already worked several card shows with us, and if you've stopped by our table lately, chances are he's the one who greeted you. Collectors love him, and we couldn't be prouder to have him on the team. Here he is in his own words:
"My passion for sports cards and baseball led me to SHOCardsLA. My dad first introduced me to Eric at a card show after we discovered our shared interest in collecting Shohei Ohtani cards. Since then, I have enjoyed learning more about the sports-card hobby, meeting other collectors, and seeing what goes into running a collectibles business.
I am a huge baseball fan and also love playing the game. I currently play catcher and shortstop, two positions that require leadership, focus, communication, and a strong understanding of the game. My long-term baseball goal is to become the starting catcher for my high school team, continue playing at the college level, and ultimately pursue the opportunity to play professionally.
As a collector, one of my biggest goals is to someday own a 2024 Shohei Ohtani Blue Wave Refractor numbered to 75. I am excited to be part of SHOCardsLA and look forward to continuing to learn about collecting, customer service, sales, and the sports memorabilia industry."
The rest of who I am.
The same curiosity and discipline that drives the card collection runs through the other parts of my life. I think it matters that you know who you're doing business with.
Emergency Medicine
Full-time ER physician. Years of practice in high-acuity care. Trained to read situations fast and act decisively — useful for grading photos and authenticating cards too.
Applied Physiology
Master's degree in Applied Physiology. The science of how the body actually works. The foundation for both my medical practice and my health-coaching company.
Empowered Health Care
I run a small personal healthcare company that teaches patients how to advocate for themselves and take ownership of their own care. Includes safe-use guidance on peptides — how to acquire them properly and use them responsibly.
IFR-Certified Pilot
Instrument-rated pilot. Flying is part discipline, part patience, part pattern recognition. Skills that translate everywhere.
MMA & Skiing
Train MMA regularly. Ski every winter I can manage. Believe physical training keeps the mind sharp — and I'd rather break a sweat than scroll a phone.
Dad to Owen & William
The most important job by a mile. Everything else is a hobby. They're growing up watching their dad work hard, treat people right, and chase what he loves. That's the real legacy.
Four principles, no exceptions.
Authenticity First
If I can't verify it, I won't sell it. Every card is third-party graded; every autograph and relic carries documentation.
Fair, Transparent Pricing
I share comps, explain condition, and tell you the reasoning when it's relevant. No mystery markups, no games.
Long-Term Relationships
I'd rather have 50 collectors who trust me for life than 5,000 transactions I'll never see again.
Kindness Always
Whether you're spending $50 or $50,000, you'll be treated the same. Questions are welcome. New collectors are welcome.
At the shows, at the stadium, with the community.
A few moments from the road — card shows, Dodgers Spring Training, meeting collectors who make this hobby what it is.
